2020 Maxus E Deliver 3 electric van introduced with £24,000 price tag

The LDV EV30 electric van has been rebranded the Maxus E Deliver 3 by Chinese parent company SAIC in the UK. It will cost from £24,000 before VAT, but a launch won’t take place until September at the earliest. 

In terms of size, the van competes against models such as the Renault Kangoo ZE and Nissan e-NV200. The E Deliver 3 will be built in China, and the UK will be the first export market it will be launched in when it arrives later in the year. Maxus has revealed two different battery pack options alongside short-wheelbase (SWB) and long-wheelbase (LWB) variants. The latter has a 600mm longer wheelbase.

With the larger 53.5kWh battery fitted, the E Deliver 3 is capable of 149 miles in SWB form, dropping to 142 miles on a full charge for the LWB variant. A smaller and cheaper 35kWh van is capable of a claimed 98 miles in short-wheelbase form, dropping to 93 miles for the longer version. 

Maxus claims using a DC fast charger can top the batteries in as little as 45 minutes, while an AC charge can take 5 hours.

An 114bhp electric motor drives the front wheels, while the van has a cargo volume of 5 cubic metres as standard and 6 cubic metres in the long wheelbase model. Payloads are 600kg and one tonne respectively.

When the E Deliver 3 is for sale in the UK later this year, it will come with barn-style rear doors, twin sliding side doors and the option to fit a twin passenger seat. Prices will start from £24,000 before VAT, and after the UK government electric vehicle grant has been applied, making it one of the cheaper all-electric vans on the market.
