New Joie i-Snug infant car seat review
If you want a lightweight infant car seat, then look no further than the i-Snug by Joie. At just 3.25kg it’s one of the lightest infant carriers on the market, so moving the i-Snug in and out of the car really doesn’t cause any strain.
The i-Snug is an i-Size product, meaning it can be fitted using either a three-point harness or Joie’s own i-Base, which attaches to the car with ISOFIX. The i-Base is really simple to use and, like all ISOFIX products, takes no more than a couple of minutes to set up.
Being so light its possible to place the i-Snug into the base using just one hand, which is useful when carrying other bags or items. Removing the seat is just as easy, simply press a button and the seat detaches from the base ready to be lifted away.
The three-point harness can be loosened by pressing a single button, while can just as easily be tightened up again by using a single pull chord for the desired tension. It’s a really good mechanism that adds to the overall quick and speedy nature of this product. You really only need a few minutes to get it all ready so you can get on the move quickly even if the youngest member of your family is being slightly uncooperative.
One of the best features of the i-Snug is the tri-protect headrest, which has three layers of protection inside the side wings as well as the pillow. The material used is a patented memory foam Joie calls intelli-fit, helping to keep an infant’s head both as safe and comfy as possible while you take them wherever they need to be.
Another great feature of this seat is the retractable sun canopy, which has UPF 50+ protection and is also water resistant. Both the canopy and the seat cover can be removed with ease, very handy as most things that spend any time near babies need washing fairly regularly.
On top of the great versatility and ease of use, the i-Snug can be used in conjunction with Joie’s range of pushchairs to help reduce the amount of luggage when out and about. Plus, when placed on a flat surface, the curved under carriage means it also doubles up as a mobile rocker.
Overall the i-Snug has all the features you’d expect from a quality infant car seat, while at the same time doing it very quickly with minimal hassle. It’s something of a Swiss army knife of the infant carrier world.
